What information this website collects, what happens to it, and what choices you have.
This policy describes lexlawandtax.com as it currently stands. It does not claim any certification, audit or standard of compliance, and it does not state a fixed retention period, because neither has been established. Where something has not been settled, this policy says so rather than describing an arrangement that does not exist.
Information submitted through forms
There are two enquiry forms on this website, and they behave differently.
The form on the home page is live. It asks for a name, a telephone number, an email address, a city, a practice area, a brief description of the matter and a preferred method of contact. When it is submitted, those details are sent to Formspree, a third-party form-processing service, which passes them on to the firm by email. Formspree therefore receives everything typed into that form, and what it does with the submission while handling it is governed by its own terms and privacy policy rather than by this one. The firm uses the details only to respond to the enquiry.
The form on the contact page is not connected to any destination. Its submission endpoint is an unresolved placeholder, the form is disabled in the browser, and nothing typed into it is transmitted, received or stored anywhere. A notice on the form says so.
Please do not send confidential information or documents through either form. Sending an enquiry does not create an advocate–client relationship, and a communication made before such a relationship exists is not protected as privileged.
Contact information you send directly
Where you telephone, send a message on WhatsApp or write by email, the firm receives whatever you choose to send: your name and contact details, and whatever you say about the matter. That information is used to respond to your enquiry and to deal with the matter if the firm agrees to act.
It is not sold, rented or shared for marketing purposes, and it is not used to send unsolicited communications. Enquiries are treated in confidence. Please note that sending an enquiry does not by itself create an advocate–client relationship, and communications made before such a relationship exists are not protected as privileged. You are asked not to send confidential documents through this website.
Technical logs and analytics
Any web server records technical information about requests made to it — typically the IP address, the time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser's user-agent string. Those records are generated by the hosting arrangement rather than by anything on this website, and they are used for operating and securing the site.
This website uses Google Analytics. A measurement script supplied by Google is loaded on every page, and it reports to Google, on the firm's behalf, which pages are opened and how the site is used. Google receives your IP address, the page you are on, the page that referred you, and information about your browser and device. Google processes that information under its own terms and privacy policy rather than under this one, and the firm sees only the aggregated reports Google produces from it.
Alongside page views, the following actions are counted so the firm knows which ways of getting in touch people actually use: clicking a telephone number, a WhatsApp link or an email address; opening the firm's Google Business Profile or the directions link; and starting or sending the enquiry form on the home page. What is recorded is that the action happened and on which page, not what you typed. The contents of the enquiry form are never sent to Google.
There is no advertising code, no advertising pixel and no profiling for advertising purposes on this website, and nothing collected here is sold or used to build a profile of you.
Cookies and browser storage
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser so that repeat visits from the same browser can be recognised and counted as one visitor rather than many. Those cookies are used for measurement. They are not used for advertising, and the firm sets no cookie of its own for any purpose.
You can refuse or delete them in your browser's settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on, and the site will continue to work normally. Browsers that send a Do Not Track signal, or that block third-party measurement scripts by default, will simply not be counted.
Separately from those cookies, this website uses your browser's local storage for a single purpose, described in the next section. Local storage stays in your browser; it is not transmitted to the firm or to anyone else, and it is not readable by other websites.
The disclaimer acknowledgement
On a first visit the site shows the acknowledgement required by the Bar
Council of India's rules, which has to be accepted before the site is used.
When it is accepted, one entry is written to your browser's local storage
under the key hrla.disclaimer.accepted so that the
acknowledgement is not shown again on every page.
That entry records only that the acknowledgement was accepted. It contains nothing that identifies you, it is not sent anywhere, and clearing your browser's site data removes it, after which the acknowledgement is shown again.
Third-party image requests
Photographs used on this website are licensed stock photographs served by Pexels rather than copied into the site. When a page carrying one is loaded, your browser requests the image directly from that host, and that request carries your IP address and user-agent as any request to a third-party host does.
The firm does not receive those requests and does not see who made them. What Pexels does with them is governed by its own policies, not by this one.
Google Fonts
Typefaces are served by Google Fonts. As with images, your browser requests them directly from Google's servers when a page is loaded, and that request carries your IP address and user-agent. The firm does not receive or see those requests, and what Google does with them is governed by its own policies.
The site is built so that it remains fully readable if those requests fail or are blocked, using typefaces already present on your device.
Retention
Information you send, whether through the home-page form or directly, is kept for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which you sent it — to respond to the enquiry, and where the firm acts in a matter, for as long as the matter and the firm's professional obligations require.
No fixed retention period is stated here, because one has not been established, and a period published without having been settled would be a claim rather than a description. If a defined schedule is adopted, this policy will be updated to set it out.
Contact requests about your information
You may ask what information the firm holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Such a request should be sent to the email address published on the contact page, with enough detail to identify the correspondence concerned.
Requests are dealt with as promptly as is practicable. Where information cannot be deleted — because the firm is acting or has acted in a matter, or because a professional or legal obligation requires it to be retained — you will be told that, and why.
Your choices
- You can use the site without submitting anything. Nothing on it requires you to identify yourself.
- You can contact the office by telephone instead of in writing, if you prefer not to send anything electronically.
- You can clear the acknowledgement entry at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this site.
- You can block third-party requests in your browser; the site remains readable without the photographs and the web fonts, and blocking them also stops the analytics script from loading.
- You can refuse or delete the analytics cookies in your browser's settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on, without affecting how the site works.
- You can ask that information you have sent be corrected or deleted, as described above.
