Overview

How the Firm Assists Clients Here

Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh and the seat of much of the state's administration. It is also where the Allahabad High Court maintains its Lucknow Bench, alongside the district courts, tribunals and revenue and registration offices that serve the district.

This is the firm's principal and only office. Consultations are held here, documents are examined here, and matters arising anywhere in Uttar Pradesh are prepared and conducted from here. Clients in Lucknow have the practical advantage of being able to bring originals in person, which matters more than people expect: a great deal of property and tax work turns on documents that are difficult to assess from a photograph.

Because the capital concentrates so much of the state's administrative and appellate machinery, a wide range of matters is dealt with locally — from district court proceedings and registration work through to matters before tribunals and the High Court bench sitting here.

Getting started

How Consultation and Document Review Work

Consultations are held at the office. Bringing the original documents to a first meeting makes it considerably more useful, since much of the initial assessment is an examination of the papers themselves.

  1. Step 01

    First discussion

What has happened, what is sought and whether anything is running against time.

  2. Step 02

    Document review

The papers already held are read, and anything still to be obtained is identified.

  3. Step 03

    Scope and next steps

The available course of action, the work it involves and its likely stages are set out before it is begun.

Remote

Matters That May Begin Remotely

Whether a particular matter can be taken this far without a meeting depends on the papers, and is settled at the outset rather than assumed.

  • A first discussion about what has happened and what is sought, by telephone or video call.
  • Reading scanned documents — agreements, notices, returns, orders and correspondence — before originals are seen.
  • Drafting and settling notices, replies, agreements and deeds, with revisions exchanged electronically.
  • Preparing and submitting registration and return filings that are made online.
  • Written replies to notices issued by a tax or registration authority.

In person

Matters That May Require Physical Appearance

Some steps cannot be completed remotely. Where attendance is required, that is said in advance rather than discovered on the day.

  • Execution and registration of a deed, where the parties must attend the registration office in person.
  • Hearings where the court, tribunal or authority requires a party rather than only the advocate to be present.
  • Examination of original title documents, which frequently cannot be assessed from a photograph or a scan.
  • Recording of evidence, and any proceeding in which a party must be identified in person.
  • Any step for which the forum concerned directs personal attendance.

The practice

Advocates

Each advocate of the firm is enrolled with the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh and holds a Certificate of Practice. All three work from the Lucknow office.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The office is in Lucknow. The address and telephone number are published on the contact page and in the footer of every page of this website. Please make an appointment before attending rather than calling in, so that time can be set aside to look at the papers properly.

Depending on the subject and value of the matter, it may lie before the district courts, a tribunal, the revenue authorities, the registration office, or the High Court bench that sits in the city. Which forum applies to your matter is confirmed on the facts before anything is filed.

It is better to arrange a time. Documents left without a discussion are of limited use, because the questions that matter usually arise from the papers rather than from a summary of them.
